RES 1979-54 - 00006713RESOLUTION NO. 54 -1979 A RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO SENATE FILE NO. 513 AND HOUSE FILE NO. 490 WHEREAS, The sale of strong beer in the State of Minnesota is restricted to those outlets holding intoxicating liquor licenses, and WHEREAS, This restriction has tended to help regulate the sale of strong beer within the State of Minnesota, and WHEREAS, This control would be greatly reduced if each service station, grocery store, drug store, and other places of business that is now permitted to sell 3.2% beer will be permitted to sell strong beer, and WHEREAS, If the sale of strong beer is allowed at all those retail establishments now selling 3.2% beer, the next logical sequence of events will be that pressure will be exerted on the State Legislature for authorization to sell wine at these same stores, and WHEREAS, It is desirable from a public policy standpoint to regulate and control the method of dispensing strong beer, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Council of the City of Fridley hereby goes on record as being opposed to Senate File No. 513 and House File No. 490, the seven percent beer bills.
