RESOLUTION NO. 56 -1979
A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF SENATE FILE NO. 519 AND
HOUSE FILE NO. 277 (SHADE TREE DISEASE CONTROL PROGRAM)
WHEREAS, the cities of the State of Minnesota are mandated by State
Statute to enforce the Shade Tree Disease Control Program, and
WHEREAS, this has placed an additional financial burden on the
cities of the State of Minnesota, and
WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota in past years has subsized a portion
of the cost of diseased tree removal, and
WHEREAS, this same level of support is necessary if the municipalities
of the State are to enforce the Shade Tree Disease Control Program at the
same level as past years,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of
Fridley hereby goes on record as being in support of House File No. 277 and
Senate File No. 519, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Fridley goes on record as
specifically requesting the level of support for cities not be reduced from
the 1978 level so long as cities are mandated by law to carry out the Shade
Tree Disease Removal Program.
