RES 1980-114 - 00006603RESOLUTION NO. 114 - 1980 A RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO PROPOSAL FOR REALLO- CATION OF THE TWO PERCENT FIRE, LIGHTNING, SPRINKLER LEAKAGE AND EXTENDED COVERAGE INSURANCE PREMIUMS. WHEREAS, the City of Fridley is desirous of maintaining a financially sound pension program for its volunteer firefighters through the Fridley 's Firefighters Relief Association and WHEREAS, the City recognizes the importance of the 2% insurance premium state aid available under Minnesota Statutes 69.021 and 69.031 to attain and maintain an actuarially sound pension benefit program which meets the unique needs and desires of the City, and WHEREAS, allocation of a portion or all of said funds to purposes other than the existing purpose may jeopardize the Association's financial ability to improve pension and other benefit levels which are deemed desirous or necessary by the City to attract and retain qualified volunteer and /or paid call firefighters; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council that the City of Fridley is opposed to any proposal introduced before the Minnesota Legislature which would eliminate the exclusive allocation to the Fridley's Firefighters Relief Association of the 2% insurance premium state aid described in Minnesota Statutes Chapter 69.021 and 69.031.
