RES 1981-37 - 00006194RESOLUTION NO. 37 - 1981 A RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO A BILL ALLOWING THE SALE OF STRONG BEER AND WINE IN RETAIL OUTLETS WHEREAS, The sale of strong beer and wine in the State of Minnesota is restricted to those outlets holding intoxicating liquor licenses, and WHEREAS, The restriction has tended to help regulate the sale of strong beer and wine within the State of Minnesota, and WHEREAS, The control would be greatly reduced if any retail outlet that it now permitted to sell 3.2 beer would be permitted to sell strong beer and wine, and WHEREAS, The sale of strong beer and wine in retail stores would reduce revenues to the City's municipal liquor store, and WHEREAS, The sale of strong beer and wine in retail stores would add additional expense to the City's Police Department for control of the law, and WHEREAS, It is desirable from a City public policy standpoint to regulate and control the method of dispensing strong beer and wine; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the City Council of the City of Fridley, Minnesota, hereby goes on record as being opposed to the bill allowing the sale of strong beer and wine in retail outlets.
