RESOLUTION NO. 49 - 1983
RESOLUTION ENDORSING DEVELOPMENT OF JOINT ROWERS AGENCY TO
FUNCTION AS A WATERSHED MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATION FOR THE
UPPER MISSISSIPPI EAST -SOUTH WATERSHED
WHEREAS, Chapter 509, Laws of Minnesota 1982 requires the formation of
Watershed Management Organizations for the purpose of Surface Water
Management, either by development of Joint Powers Agreements or by petition
for the formation of a Chapter 112 Watershed District; and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City of Fridley that the area identified as
the Upper Mississippi East -South Watershed by the Metropolitan Council's
regional plan for surface water management can best be managed by a Watershed
Management Organization developed under a Joint Powers Agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fridley,
Minnesota That:
1. The City of Fridley hereby endorses the development of a Joint Powers
Agency to function as the Watershed Management Organization for the Upper
Mississippi East -South Watershed.
2. John Flora, Director of Public Works is hereby appointed as the City of
Fridley representative to a steering committee to formulate a Joint Powers
Agreement to be submitted for official consideration by the City Councils of
the member cities.
