INFORM THE ANOKA COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ON THE CITY OF
FRIDL YS DECISION REGARDING BLACK SLAG FOR WINTER DEICING.
WHEREAS, the citizens of Fridley have requested that black slag not be used
within the City for street deicing; and
WHEREAS, no other City in Anoka County is using black slag; and
WHEREAS, safety in driving is hindered by the black slag along the roadway
edge; and
WHEREAS, black slag presents a dirty aesthetic appearance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Fridley that black slag will not
be used by the Public Works Department during the winter of 1983/84; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Anoka County Highway Department be advised of
the decision by the City Council; and
That the Anoka Board of Commissioners be requested not to use black slag in
the City of Fridley.
