WHEREAS, the City of Fridley is required by state statute to solicit by public
notice sealed bids for any contract over $15,000; and
WHEREAS, it has been the practice of the City to have the City Council direct
the staff to advertise for bids for these contracts; and
WHEREAS, Section 6.06 of the City Code permits the City Manager to call for
these bids without receiving prior City Council approval subject to final
approval of all contracts by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the past practice of having the City Council call for the
advertisement of bids impedes the ability of the City to quickly and
efficiently advertise notice of bids.
NCv7, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fridley
that:
The City Manager or his designee shall be permitted to advertise for bids as
required by MSA Section 471.345, without prior City Council direction, except
that the City Manager or his designee is not authorized to advertise for bids
for local improvements under MSA Chapter 429, without prior City Council
approval, provided that no contracts or agreements will be entered into
without prior approval of the City Council.
