RES 1984-132 - 00005593✓W'N RESOLUTION NO. 132 - 1984 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE THE COMMISSIONER OF TRANSPORTATION - MINNESOTA, DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION - TO REDUCE THE SPEED LIMIT ON TRUNK HIGHWAYS 47 AND 65 IN FRIDLEY ' WHEREAS, T.H. 47 and T.H. 65 are under the jurisdiction of the Minnesota Department of Transportation; and WHEREAS, the posted speed limits on T.A. 47 and T.A. 65 in Fridley allow traffic to travel at speeds which are in excess of what should be allowed in an urban area with frequent pedestrian and bicycle crossings; and WHEREAS, within the existing posted zones on T.H. 47 and T.H. 65 there have been recent commercial and recreational developnents creating a need for added pedestrian and bikeway crossings on both T.H. 47 and T.H. 65. NOK THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Fridley, that the Commissioner of Transportation be requested to adequately reduce the speed limits on T.H. 47 and T.H. 65 in the first ring suburb of Fridley in an attempt to provide greater safety to motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists in the community and provide for uniform speed for traffic enforcement purposes.
