RESOLMON NO. 15 - 1984
RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF TELEPHONE
RATE TERRITORIES (TIERS) BY NORTHWESTERN BELL TELEPHONE
OOMPANY
WHEREAS, Northwestern Bell Telephone Company has established telephone rate
' territories within the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area which have the
effect or shifting the revenue burden of telephone service among metropolitan
customers with little or no regard to the cost of the service provided or
used; and
WHEREAS, the effect of these rate territories could have a detrimental effect
on future mutual cooperative efforts of metropolitan communities because of
the differential cost burden these "tiers" establish,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Fridley
opposes the establishment of telephone rate territories (Tiers) by
Northwestern Bell Telephone Company or any other method of rate setting which
is based on time or distance within the metropolitan area.
