A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION TO PROVIDE HAZARD ELIMINATION FUNDS TO BE
USED FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE UNIVERSITY AVENUE WEST
SERVICE DRIVE FROM 81ST AVENUE TO THE NOM.
' WHEREAS, due to the increasing number of accidents occurring at the
intersection of 83rd Avenue NE and University Avenue, the Minnesota Department
of Transportation is planning to eliminate the crossing of northbound
University Avenue traffic to the west on 83rd Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the elimination of this crossover will limit the access to the
commercial and industrial property on the west side of University Avenue
between 81st Avenue and 83rd Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the University Avenue West Service Drive will have to be completed to
provide reasonable access to these commercial and industrial areas; and
WHEREAS, the construction of the University Avenue West Service Drive is the
type of work which is eligible for Hazard Elimination Funding.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fridley,
Anoka County, Minnesota as follows:
That the City of Fridley is hereby requesting the Minnesota Department of
Transportation to provide Hazard Elimination Funds to pay for the construction
of the University Avenue West Service Drive from 81st Avenue to the the North
to connect to the existing service drive.
