RES 1986-09 - 00004770' RESOLUTION NO. 9 - 1986 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING 'THE INSTALLATION OF AN AERATOR IN THE WEST BASIN OF MOORE LAKE AND ODNTINUED WATER QUALITY MONITORING 414 WHEREAS, the Moore Lake Restoration Project requires the installation of a well to pump water into the east basin of Moore Lake to provide a continuous flow of water through the T.H. 65 culvert to prevent the culvert from freezing and trapping fish in the west basin during the winter; and WHEREAS, the installation of an aerator will be the least costly method of preventing winter kill due to freezing in the west basin; and WHEREAS, the cost of installing the aerator is eligible for funding under the conditions of the Moore Lake grant; and WHEREAS, it is desirable to continue monitoring the water quality in Moore Lake to measure the effectiveness of the Moore Lake Restoration improvements and to ensure water quality in the future. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fridley that: 1. An aerator be installed in the west basin of Moore Lake instead of a well to prevent winterkill of fish in the west basin. 2. All the costs associated with the installation of an aerator in the west basin be included in the Moore Lake Restoration Project. 3. That the water quality monitoring program in Moore Lake be continued to ensure the highest standard possible. 4. That a water quality monitoring program be initiated to measure the effectiveness of the BASFU Treatment System.
