' RESOLUTION NO. 36 - 1986
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION TO PROVIDE FUNDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF
THE UNIVERSITY AVENUE WEST SERVICE DRIVE FROM 81ST AVENUE
TO 83RD AVENUE
WHEREAS, due to the increasing number of accidents occurring at the
intersection of 83rd Avenue N.E. and University Avenue, the Minnesota
Department of Transportation is planning to eliminate the crossing northbound
University Avenue traffic to the west on 83rd Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the elimination of this crossover will limit the access to the
commercial and industrial property on the west side of University Avenue
between 81st Avenue and 83rd Avenue; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 15 -1985 requested the Minnesota Department of
Transportation use Hazardous Elimination Funds for the construction of
University West Service Drive from 81st to 83rd and these are no longer
available; and
WHEREAS, the University Avenue West Service Drive will have to be completed
to provide reasonable access to these commercial and industrial areas.
' NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fridley,
Anoka County, Minnesota as follows:
That the City of Fridley is hereby requesting the Minnesota Department of
Transportation to provide funds to pay for the construction of the University
Avenue West Service Drive from 81st Avenue to 83rd Avenue.
