RES 1986-39 - 00004808o1Sz RESOLUTION NO. 39 - 1986 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE GREATER ANOKA COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY WHEREAS, there is no existing shelter facility for the Greater Anoka County Humane Society to receive and care for unwanted animals, provide stability to animal control, promote and administer rabies vaccination clinics, promote and possibly administer pet licensing, assist with animal abuse investigation and provide public education for responsible pet ownership, provide animal adoption services; and WHEREAS, the Greater Anoka County Humane Society's temporary office receives calls from residents of the City of Fridley on a frequent basis regarding unwanted animals, stray animals, lost pets, or reporting cases of possible animal abuse; and WHEREAS, the Greater Anoka County Humane Society is a Private, Non - Profit Corporation engaged in a capital campaign to secure finding from public and private sources to build an animal shelter in the County of Anoka; and WHEREAS, Minnesota State Statute 343.11 allows for a City appropriation not to exceed 50 cents per capita based upon the City's population as of the most recent federal census for the support of said society; and ' WHEREAS, to date the Anoka County cities of Columbia Heights, Coon Rapids, Spring Lake Park, Andover, Ramsey and St. Francis have pledged public fund support. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that pursuant to Minnesota State Statute 343.11, the City of Fridley pledges financial support in the amount of Fifteen Thousand and No /100 Dollars ($15,000) in its 1987 budget to the Greater Anoka County Humane Society; and BE IT FUFaHER RESCLVED that the City's pledge is a one -time appropriation restricted to the funding for the capital development project of the proposed animal shelter.
