RES 1988-11 - 00004351IRESOLUTION NO. 11 - 1988 RESOLUTION REGARDING PROPOSED LEGISLATIVE CHANGE IN THE FIREFIGHTERS' PENSION LEGISLATION WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fridley has authorized the preparation of a bill which would amend the existing legislation establishing the Firefighters' Pension retirement; and WHEREAS, the Fridley Volunteer Firefighters' Relief Association has requested an amendment to the existing legislation establishing their retirement pension; and WHEREAS, both the City Council and the Firefighters' Relief Association is in unanimous agreement with the provisions of the proposed bill; and WHEREAS, the Council has reviewed actuarial studies regarding the effect of the proposed changes; and WHEREAS, the Council is of the opinion that the existing and future revenues will make said plan, as revised, actuarially sound; and WHEREAS, the Fridley City Council acknowledges they understood the potential cost of the retirement program as contained in the legislation requested. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fridley, that the Council urges Senator Frank and Representatives Simoneau and Johnson to do everything within their power to expedite passage of this legislation.
