RES 1988-12 - 00004352IRESOLUTION NO. 12 - 1988 RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE ANOKA TECHNICAL INSTITUTE'S REQUEST FOR CAPITAL FUNDS WHEREAS, the Anoka Technical Institute (ATI) has proven to be a valuable resource to the citizens of Fridley, in post- secondary training of high school graduates and the retraining of displaced workers; and WHEREAS, the ATI facility is a 40 year old former manufacturing plant, not designed for educational uses and environmentally unsuitable for efficient learning by students; and WHEREAS, the ATI has proposed a prudent and conservative capital investment program to improve the safety and learning environment of their facility; and WHEREAS, in addition to serving approximately 2000 Fridley citizens a year, the ATI also serves substantial numbers of citizens from 10 other counties and 20 school districts; and WHEREAS, the ATI must rely entirely on the State of Minnesota for capital improvement funds. ' NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fridley that it is in the best interests of the citizens of Fridley and the Fridley business community to see the ATI facility maintained and enhanced to meet the community's need for vocational and technical training. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Fridley supports the request of the Anoka Technical Institute to the State Legislature for necessary funding as described in their 1988 capital building request.
