RESOLUTION NO. SS - 1992
' RESOLUTION EXPRESSING INTENTION TO EXPAND
MOORE LAKE BEACH PARR
WHEREAS, changing conditions have brought about increased demands
on local parks and open space; and
WHEREAS, these demands not only require more land for parks and
open space but also a wide variety of facilities to accommodate
these needs; and
WHEREAS, Moore Lake is one of the natural attributes in the City
of Fridley, Minnesota, and it is in the public interest to maximize
public access to Moore Lake; and
WHEREAS, the City has established and maintained a public park on
the east shore of Moore Lake and because of widespread use of said
park there is a need to expand this facility; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has on previous occasions considered the
area directly north of said park for future expansion of the park;
and
WHEREAS, the City has previously contacted each of the owners of
the subject properties, more specifically identified in Exhibit A
attached
hereto and made a
part of
this Resolution,
requesting a
'
"right of
first refusal" to
purchase
their properties
when they are
placed on
the market; and
WHEREAS, the City has previously purchased one of the parcels
listed on the attached Exhibit for the purpose of future park
expansion.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Fridley City Council hereby
resolves to acquire the subject properties, either by negotiation
or by right of eminent domain.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the schedule for acquisition of said
properties shall be at the discretion of this and future City
Councils.

MINNESOTA, THIS 3RD DAY OF AUGUST, 1992.
