RESOLUTION 90. 53 - 1994
' RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE APPROVAL OF A GRANT
CONTRACT WITH THE STATE OF MINNESOTA TO BUILD AN OFF -
ROAD BIKEWAY ALONG CENTRAL AVENUE WITH FUNDING FROM
THE MINNESOTA COOPERATIVE GRANTS PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City of Fridley has identified a need for an off -road bikeway
trail on Central Avenue from 69th Avenue to Highway 65, and
WHEREAS, the City Bikeway/Walkway Committee identified this trail segment as
being important to the overall city -wide bikeway system plan, and
WHEREAS, three meetings were held with residents along the route to discuss
alignment, and
WHEREAS, the trail will link residents with two major recreational facilities
in the City of Fridley — the Moore Lake Beach 6 Park and the Rice Creek
Regional Trail, and
WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has awarded
the City of Fridley a $50,000 grant through the Minnesota Cooperative Grant
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY, the City Council of the City of Fridley,
Anoka County, Minnesota, that the City hereby authorizes and approves the
execution of a grant contract with the State of Minnesota for $50,000 to
construct an off -road bikeway on the west side of Central Avenue between 69th
Avenue and Highway 65, and
BE IT RESOLVED that the Fridley City Manager is hereby authorized and directed
to sign the grant contract for said grant funds.

WHEREAS,
the City
of
Fridley understands that the grant money may not be used
for reimbursement
of
costs incurred before the grant contract is signed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY, the City Council of the City of Fridley,
Anoka County, Minnesota, that the City hereby authorizes and approves the
execution of a grant contract with the State of Minnesota for $50,000 to
construct an off -road bikeway on the west side of Central Avenue between 69th
Avenue and Highway 65, and
BE IT RESOLVED that the Fridley City Manager is hereby authorized and directed
to sign the grant contract for said grant funds.
