RES 1995-69 - 00002929103 ' RESOLUTION NO. 69 - 1995 RESOLUTION REQUESTING VARIANCE FROM MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION RULES REGARDING HORIZONTAL CURVES (SECTION 8820.9935 - GEOMETRIC DESIGN STANDARDS: URBAN) CHERI LANE AT FILLMORE STREET (SAP 127- 319 -04) WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Transportation rules for State Aid Operations Chapter 8820.9935 address the design speed in critical curve areas; and WHEREAS, the street in question was built to its existing alignment by the State of Minnesota under the same project as the I -694 construction over 30 years ago and adjoining properties have been totally developed for over 25 years, and WHEREAS, the existing alignment is totally functional to accommodate present and projected traffic as originally built and recently improved, and WHEREAS, police records over the past 5 years indicate no reportable accidents within the variance request area, and WHEREAS, the City of Fridley believes there are other compelling reasons for maintaining the existing alignment without affecting safety or traffic BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, the City of Fridley Public Works Director is authorized and directed to post appropriate advisory speed signs at either end of said curve. ' NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT, the City Council of the City of Fridley, Anoka County, Minnesota, does hereby request a variance from the Minnesota Department of Transportation rules for State Aid Operations, Chapter 8820.9935 to allow the originally designed and present alignment of the curve at Cheri Lane and Fillmore Street (MSAS 319). BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, the City of Fridley Public Works Director is authorized and directed to post appropriate advisory speed signs at either end of said curve.
