RES 1962-188RESOLUTION NO. 188 -1962 R ^SOLUTION REQUESTING INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS AT CERTAIN INTF,RSFCTIONS IN THE CITY OF FRIDLEY. WHEREAS, more than 60% of the traffic accidents in the City of Fridley occur on East River Road, and WHEREAS, control of traffic on East River Road is extremely difficult because of the heavy traffic at certain times of the day 1' on said East River Road, and WHEREAS, access from orovate drives and intersecting streets onto East River Road is nearly impossible during said heavy travel periods, and VHERFAS, the installation of traffic signals at the intersection of Osborne Road with East River Road, and Mississippi Street with East River Road, would enable east -west traffic on Osborne Road and Mississippi. Street to enter onto, or turn off of, East River Road with a Great degree of safety, and said signals would also tend to "gap" the heavy traffic on East River Road so that access onto East River Road from private drives and other intersecting streets would become possible, and WHEREAS, East River Road, Osborne Road, and Mississippi Street are all County roads, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, By the Council of the City of Fridley: 1. That the Council requests and urges that the Anoka County Board proceed with the installation of traffic signals at the aforesaid intersections. 2. That the Council offers the services of the Fridley City Manager, City Engineer, and Chief of Police to assist in any way deemed necessary by the County to insure proper installation of said traffic signals. 3. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to forward two certified copies of this resolution to the Anoka County Board.
