RES 1962-208232 RESOLUTION NO. 207 -1962 RESOLUTION REQUESTING ADDITIONAL BUS SEEiVICE FOR THE CITY OF FRIDLEY, MINNESOTA. 7H=AS' the bus service presently provided by the Twin City Rapid Transit Company penetrates into the City of Fridley on Univ- ersity Avenue only as far north as 66th Avenue Northeast, and WHEREAS, the subdivision known as Melody Manor which provides lots for 460 homes, is rapidly being develo^ed in the area bounded by 73rd Avenue Northeast on the south, University t'.Venue on the West, and Osborne Road on the north, and WHEREAS, there are two trailer courts serving some 500 family trailers located in the vicinity of 73rc Avenue Northeast and T.H. #65 is also the boundary line between the City of Fridley and the village of Spring Lake Park, and there are numerous homes in Spring Lake Perk that could be serviced by improved bus service, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, By the Council of the City of Fridley: 1. That the Twin City Rapid Transit Company is hereby requested to extend bus service into the City of Fridley along University Avenue, north to Osborne Road, thence east along Osborne Road to T.H. 4V65, thence south on T.H. #%�5 to Mississipni Street North - east back to University Avenue Northeast. 2. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to forward two certified copies of this resolution to the lwrin City Rapid Transit Company. That it is in the interest of the City to award bid contracts for the following items or materials: 20,000 gallons (more or less) of Regular Gasoline 25,000 gallons (more or less) of Ethyl Gasoline 2. A copy of the specifications for the above described items and materials, together with a proposal for the method of purchase and the payment thereof have been presented to the Council by the City "arager and the same are hereby a- )proved and adopted as the plans and specifications, and the methof of acquisition and pay- ment to be rec_uired by the City with respect to the acquisition of said items and rnaterials. ?, The purchase of said items and materials as described above shall be e'fected by sealed bids to be received and opened by the City of Fridley on the 7th day of January 1963. The City Manager is dir- ected and aut?nrized to advertise for the purchase of said items and mate? -als by sealed bid proposals urder notice as provided by law and the Charter of the City of Fridley, the notice to be substan- tially in form as that shown by Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part of by reference. All bids must meet the minimum requirements of the specifications. Failure to comply with this section can resolt in disqualification of the bid. ' Each bid shall be accompanied by a Certified Check, Cashier's Check, Cash or Bid ljond in an amount of not less than 5` of the bid, which check, cash or band shall be forfeited if bidder neglects or refuses to enter into a Contract, after his bid has been accepted. The City reserves the right to accept the bid which is determined to be in the best interests of the City. The City reserves the right to re- ject any and all bids and waive any informalities or technicalities in any bid. The City Council. also reserves the right to consider such factors as time of delivery or performance, experience, responsibility of the bidder, past nerfcrmances of similar types of itens or materials, availability of products and other similar factors that it may determine to be in the best interest of the City. Copies of the specifications and general conditions may be examined in the office of the City Engineer. All bids must be submitted in sealed envelopes and plainly marked on the outside with "GASOLINE BID ". That it is in the interest of the City to award bid contracts for the following items or materials: 25,000 pounds (more or less) of Liquid Chlorine 2. A copy of the specifications for the above described items and materials, together with a proposal for the method of purchase and the payment thereof have been presented to the Council. by the City Manager and the same are hereby approved and adopted as the plans and specifications, and the method of acquisition and payment to be reouired by the City with respect to the acquisition of said items and materials. 3. The purchase of said items and materials as described above shall be effected by sealed bids to be received and opened by the City of Fridley on the 7th day of January, 1963.
