Res 2002-50 RESOLUTION NO. 50-2002 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING IMPROVEMENTS TO SPRINGBROOK NATURE CENTER AND COMMENCING OF FUNDRAISING EFFORTS BY THE SPRINGBROOK NATURE CENTER FOUNDATION WHEREAS, the Springbrook Nature Center is a 127 acre City of Fridley park that provides year round opportunities to experience and learn about nature; and WHEREAS, the Springbrook Nature Center is an environmental education center that serves school groups, community organizations and families; and WHEREAS, the Springbrook Nature Center serves Fridley residents with enjoyable and educational programs,hands-on exhibits and nature center facilities; and WHEREAS, the Springbrook Nature Center Foundation is a local non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the overall planning, development and management of the Springbrook Nature Center; and WHEREAS, the Springbrook Nature Center Foundation has expressed a desire to raise funds to support a Gateway Entrance area project to improve facilities at the Springbrook Nature Center; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Fridley City Council supports the concept of improving facilities at the Springbrook Nature Center and authorizes the Springbrook Nature Center Foundation to seek funds for purpose of making the improvements outlined in Vision Package#1. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of Fridley supports this project with the following understanding: 1. That the improvements for this project will be completed without City of Fridley dollars for capital expenditures or additional operating costs associated with the improvements. 2. That the City staff will review and approve presentation and promotional materials for the phased improvements at Springbrook Nature Center. 3. That the fundraising effort is for Vision Package#1 only. 4. That all funds raised for construction, operation,maintenance and depreciation of the Springbrook Nature Center Gateway Project will be deposited with the City of Fridley and set aside in a separate Springbrook Nature Center Gateway Project improvement fund.
