Res 1998-68 RESOLUTION NO. 68 - 1998
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING INITIATION OF ALTERNATIVE
URBAN AREA WIDE REVIEW FOR THE MEDTRONIC INC. CAMPUS
AT THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF I-694 AND HIGHWAY 65
WHEREAS, there exist an approximate 41 acre site in the northwest
corner of I-694 and Highway 65, which is commonly referred to as the
Fridley Executive Center site; and
WHEREAS, Medtronic Inc. has executed a letter of intent for
acquisition and development of the site for a future corporate
campus; and
WHEREAS, Medtronic Inc. intends to develop over a long period of time
(at minimum 10-15 years) ; and
WHEREAS, there is uncertainty as to the exact nature and extent of
the final development on the site; and
WHEREAS, it is prudent to conduct an environmental review as provided
for by the State of Minnesota Environmental Review Program rules; and
WHEREAS, an Alternative Area Wide Urban Review (AUAR) is the most
appropriate form of environmental review provided for in the
Minnesota Environmental Review Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of
Fridley that an AUAR be initiated and completed for the area shown on
the attached exhibit A.
