Res 1996-39 00075 RESOLUTION NO. 39 - 1996 RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE REDUCTION OF SPEED ON COUNTY HIGHWAY 132 WHEREAS, Council members of the City of Fridley have determined that there is excessive speed on County Highway 132 (85th Avenue) between East River Road (County Road 1) and State Trunk Highway 47 (University Avenue) , and WHEREAS, County Highway 132 abuts the City of Fridley's Springbrook Nature Center, and WHEREAS, the Nature Center is visited by children and adults of all ages, in search of quiet and wildlife experiences, and WHEREAS, the access, safety and natural experiences at the Springbrook Nature Center are hindered by the speed of vehicles on County Highway 132, and WHEREAS, the City Council believes that the vehicle speed of 50 mph on this route should be reduced. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT, the City Council of the City of Fridley, Anoka County, Minnesota, that the Anoka County Highway Department is requested to reduce the traffic speed on County Highway 132 to a maximum of 40 miles per hour.
