RESOLUTION NO. 117 - 1996
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING A SIDEWALK ON THE WEST SIDE OF
EAST RIVER ROAD
WHEREAS, the County is proposing to complete the final improvement of East River
Road in the City of Fridley and
WHEREAS, a public meeting was held on October 10, 1996, in the Municipal Center
by the County discussing the project, and
WHEREAS, a number of citizens at the meeting indicated an interest in having a
sidewalk incorporated in the project from 79th Way north to the Coon Rapids
border, and
WHEREAS, a second meeting was held in the City on October 30, 1996, and
WHEREAS, at this meeting all those that attended the first meeting plus those
residents that reside on East River Road were invited, and
WHEREAS, at the meeting there was a discussion on the pros and cons of the
sidewalk on the west side of East River Road, and
WHEREAS, it is believed that it is in the best interest of the City to provide
a sidewalk on the west side of East River Road from 79th Way to link up to the
Coon Rapids sidewalk system, and
WHEREAS, this sidewalk will provide a safe off road route for the neighborhood
and children residing and going to school in that area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT, the City Council of the City of Fridley,
Anoka County, Minnesota, that the Anoka County Highway Department is to
incorporate a 5 foot sidewalk on the west side of East River Road from 79th Way
north to the City limits tying into the Coon Rapids sidewalk system and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, the Anoka County Highway Department is requested
to work with the individual property owners to locate the sidewalk in the most
beneficial and economic location.
