The City is required to run the water,sanitary sewer,and storm water operations like a business. Due to the City Charter limitation on rate increases,the
operations lost approximately$500,000 in 2005. The City expects similar or greater losses in 2006 and beyond unless these rates are raised as follows:
Water— 16 cents per 1,000 gallons used;Sanitary Sewer—32 cents per 1,000 gallons of water used;and Storm Water— 13 cents per quarter per residential
property..
