This was done in an effort to improve the City's appearance by eliminating any unlicensed, nonoperating, junked or discarded f vehicles. c i FJ is �� Three Million Gallon Water Reservoir Repaired —'� ''- In line with a new preventative maintenance program, the City drained the water reservoir for the first time since it was built in JR—IL_= 1967 and noticed there were areas which needed attention.Now the water reservoir has been repaired and is back in service. CABLE T.V. UPDATE Did you know that you can now share your special talents with your neighborhood in Fridley?It's possible through Public Access— a special feature for subscribers of Cable T.V.in Fridley.For more information,call 571-9144. The Fridley Cable Commission reports that the new owners of the Fridley system(Northern Cablevision)have been doing a good job since their ownership in February 16, 1979.The Commission is very pleased with Northern's cooperation with the community and also in the area of public access. The Cable T.V. Commission consists of five members of the community. These are all civic-minded individuals, with the basic responsibility of monitoring the operation of Cable T.V.in Fridley,and also to see that the terms of the agreement are being fulfilled. The Commission would like to extend an invitation to all residents to attend one of our meetings.We meet at the City Hall,and future meeting dates are set for the 2nd Thursday of each month. As provided for in the franchise ordinance,cable television in Fridley offers residents the opportunity to originate and produce their own pro- grams.Channel 12 is the public access channel,serving as a vehicle for community residents to express their views and ideas. To stimulate use of the access channel by Fridleyites,the City Council has appropriated$10,000 to the Anoka County Communications Work- shop—the facilitator for access programs.Fridley residents are encouraged to use Channel 12 for whatever purposes—personal,political,etc. Northern Cablevision reports 2,834 cable subscribers in Fridley as of May 1,1980. IN ADDITION... The Anoka County Communications Workshop,Inc.held its first Public Access Telethon April 7 through the 12th.The Workshop raised over $1,000 in donations and pledges.This sum was matched by Northern Cablevision dollar for dollar.The Workshop plans to use this money to pur- chase portable color video equipment,that can be used by the public to make programs. Television programs made by the public are shown on the public access Channel 12,Monday through Friday.Training sessions on how to use video equipment and produce programs are held periodically.For more information about ACCW activities,call either Will Loew-Blosser at 571- 9144 or Mark Scott at 571-1934.
