1985 March LOCAL COMPANIES ENGAGE IN WORLD TRADE When one thinks of big business in Fridley, FMC's Northern Ordnance Division, Medtronic, Inc. and the Onan Corporation im- mediately come to mind. These "big three" employ over 7,000 people in Fridley, many of them local residents. FMC, Medtronic and Onan also employ thousands of workers throughout the U.S. and in foreign countries. Each of these companies engages in millions of dollars of international sales and production. Of the three multinationals,only Onan is currently headquartered in Fridley. Medtronic, however, intends to move its headquarters from St.Anthony to its Rice Creekfacility in Fridley before the end C1W of 1985. Chicago is home to FMC.
