All the above services are on a 24-hour, around-the-clock basis, as the men are available in all � r these phases at all times, excluding street sweeping. The following are � �' services rendered by the Public Works Department: City Street Sweepers 1. Streets and sidewalks—cleaning and snowplowing. Snowplowing 2. Storm sewers—cleaning and repairing. 3. Sanitary sewers—cleaning and repairing. 4. Water supply—pumping .and filtering. 5. Equipment maintenance and repair of all city equipment. The City provides a street sweeping service for all streets, and we sweep each street five times per season. We now have thirteen wells to provide an unlimited supply of water for our Citizens. We have ten sewerage lift stations that are checked daily. We also install traffic control, speed control, parking signs, etc., as well as street signs. We hope to have a new sewer cleaning jet machine in 1972. The Fridley Parks and Recreation Department sponsors activities for all age groups, from the time you reach age four until you're in your golden years. Our activities cover every phase of Recreation, from Ballet, to Ice Skating, to Arts and Crafts, Horseshoes, Table Tennis, Softball, and Swimming. Regardless of your age or interest, there's an activity for you. The Department prints two Bulletins a year which list all of the various activities and who is eligible to participate. The Winter and Spring Bulletin is ready for distribution around the middle of November. It's mailed out upon request, or is available to be picked up at the schools or Civic Center. The Summer Basketball and Fall Bulletin is mailed out to all Fridley residents around the middle of May, with a Beach Parking Permit, which entitles residents to park in the parking lot j at Moore Lake Beach and Park, free of charge. Fridley maintains just the one beach at Moore Lake, but the summer of 1972 will hopefully find the residents of Fridley using both the Moore Lake Beach and Park and John Erickson Park, / located on Spring Lake, for swimming purposes. Hockey Regardless of whether your particular activity of interest is a team or individual sport, Fridley offers you the opportunity to get out and participate. Some of the activities we offer are: * Supervised Summer Playground Activities. * Baseball for Boys, Softball for Girls, and Softball for Adults. a° * State Softball Tournaments on an Annual Basis. e� * Summer Tennis Lessons and Tournaments. * Swimming for the entire family. Activities for All Ages * Ice Skating at 15 locations, 10 of which have warming houses and supervisors. * Tackle Football for Boys, Flog Football for Girls, and Touch Football for Men. All of these activities have been established for the enjoyment and fellowship of the residents of Fridley. Come out and join in the fun. Have fun while staying in shape and enjoying good health.
