Bids were opened on February 6th with construction due to start in March. With all the remodeling and construction to be done this spring and summer, we ask for your understanding. We will have to move a number of activities, such as Senior Dining, off site for a few months and those activities that do stay at CEC will need a lot of patience and flexibility. In the April issue of the Senior News, we WIII have a better idea of our timeline and locations for many of our activities. We have also developed a Community Fundraising Committee of interested Fridley residents to promote donations to the new Community Center. The Committee is looking to raise funds for lounge furniture, audio/visual equipment, tables for Senior Dining, tables and chairs for the meet- ing spaces, game equipment, window coverings, gymnasium flooring and an outdoor patio area. This committee has a very ambitious challenge. They will be writing grants, visiting local corpora- tions and promoting the project with area residents. If you have any suggestions, please call the Senior Center with your ideas! We will continue to keep you informed of the progress in this exciting project.
