Good Day Readers!
We are going to make a small change in the senior newsletter. We
will no longer be printing the calendar of events on this page. All
activities are listed on the calendar on the back page and most
activities have a write up inside the newsletter. Hopefully, this will
help consolidate the newsletter and make room for more information.
If any reader has articles or items of interest for this page,
please contact the Recreation Office.
THANKSGIVING
Every November we celebrate Thanksgiving. We look back into
history at our forefathers having the first Thanksgiving, remember
Thanksgiving during our childhood and remember the times spent with
family and friends who are now far away.
But, Thanksgiving should be more than a day to reflect on the past.
It should be a day to celebrate in this year, 1982. Yes, Thanksgiving
is for giving thanks for the food we have and good times shared with
families and friends. But, it is also a time to thank those who give to
us: the small child who gives a smile while we' re taking a walk, the
someone who remembers us in letters and phone calls when they are far
away, and the people who are around us every day.
Why not extend the Thanksgiving season into a daily giving
practice. Don't always wait for someone else to make an effort. Call
someone up who you haven't heard from in a long time, visit a friend,
join a class or take part in a community event to meet new people.
Meeting new people requires that you give of yourself, your time and
your talents. What better gift could you give someone than yourself? =�
Yes, the turkey, cranberries and pumpkin pie are important for ,
Thanksgiving. What's more important are those around who share life
with you. Don't wait until Thanksgiving to give thanks - start today.
