Celebration. The Senior Citizen celebration is a chance for all of Anoka
County and several outlying Senior Centers to get together and celebrate Older
American month, 1985. We sure rape you will take part in this extravagangza of
fun activities for seniors.

Your help is needed in preparing the Senior Newsletter for mailing. We presently
have some wonderful volunteers, but more assistance is needed for the processing
of this newsletter. Newsletter preparation occurs once a month for approximately
two hours and its a nice social gathering! We could also use a few reporters to
write articles for each issue. If you are interested in lending a helping hand,
please contact the Fridley Recreation Department, Connie at 571-3450 x122.

"GET US TO THE SHOW ON TIME"
"I wish I had known about that concert. " How many times have those words crossed
your lips? Of the 500 or more readers of the Fridley Senior News, there must be
quite a few of you who share a common interest in good music, theater and lectures.
Because of a lack of communicaiton, many events go by unnoticed. If people were
organized and planned outings for such programs, they probably wouldn't miss so many
of these interesting performances. A perfect example of missing out was the Anoka
Ramsey Community College production of the opera Die Fledermaus in March. Admission
was five dollars compared to fifteen to thirty dollars at Northrup for the Metropolitan
Opera. Productions at the college are true diamonds in the rough using two or three
local professionals supported by a cast of area aspirants.
Connie will help organize a Theater Club among our area seniors. The club would be
in close contact with area performances in theater, dance, lectures, and movies.
For all who are interested, there will be an organizational meeting on May 15th at
10:00am in Community Room II next to the Recreation Office in City Hall . For
further information, call Connie at 571-3450 x122 or Bill and Esther Campbell at
786-0890.
