Resolution No. 2021-97 Agreement for PS DWI Officer Resolution No. 2021-97 Directing Public Safety Department to Enter Into Agreement and Authorizing Execution of Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety, Federal Grant Program Agreement for DWI Officer Whereas, pursuant to Minnesota Statute § 299A.01 Subd. 2 (4), the Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety is authorized to publish and award grant contracts with state agencies, local units of government, and other entities for programs that will benefit the safety of the public; and Whereas, according to the Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety, approximately one out of every four fatalities on Minnesota roadways involves alcohol impairment; and Whereas, impaired drivers create an unreasonable risk to people and property in the City of Fridley; and Whereas, the National Highway Traffic Administration has a mandate to promote the safety of those who use public roadways and has approved funding for such programs; and Whereas, the Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety provides a grant supporting full-time officers dedicated to DWI enforcement; and Whereas, the City of Fridley applied for and was awarded the federal grant funding beginning on October 1, 2021. Now, therefore be it resolved, that the City Council of the City of Fridley hereby supports the grant and directs the Fridley Department of Public Safety to enter into a grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety for the DWI Officer grant period from October 1, 2021, through September 30, 2022. Be it further resolved that the City Council of the City of Fridley hereby authorizes the City Manager and Public Safety Director to execute such agreements and amendments as are necessary to implement the project on behalf of Fridley Department of Public Safety and to be the fiscal agent and administer the grant. Budget Revisions: The breakdown of costs of the Grantee’s Budget is contained in Exhibit A, which is attached and incorporated into this grant contract agreement. As stated in the Grantee’s Application and Grant Program Guidelines, the Grantee will submit a written change request for any substitution of budget items or any deviation and in accordance with the Grant Program Guidelines. Requests must be approved prior to any expenditure by the Grantee. Matching Requirements: (If applicable.)
