Approving Change Order No. 1 for East Moore Lake Biochar and Iron-Enhanced
Sand Filter Project No 22-467
Whereas, the East Moore Lake Biochar and Iron-Enhanced Sand Filter Project (Project) is under
contract with Peterson Companies, Inc. of Chisago City, MN (the Contractor); and
Whereas, Project funding is provided by the Storm Water Utility Fund through the Capital
Investment Program, in combination with grant funds provided by the Minnesota Board of Water
& Soil Resources (BWSR) and the Rice Creek Watershed District (District); and
Whereas, the City of Fridley (City) will provide funding for the park project through the Storm
Water Utility Fund for its contributing area to the filter, as well as Anoka County providing funding
through a previously approved joint powers agreement; and
Whereas, City staff directed changes to the Project quantities and items that are incorporated into
this change order which will reduce cost and improve the quality and performance of the Project;
and
Whereas, certain materials have had extended lead times requiring a change in contract time that is
incorporated this change order; and
Whereas, accumulated work changes were desired by the City that modified the original contract
from $571,812.43 to $569,267.75 (a 0.44% decrease); and
Whereas, the Contractor performed work as directed by City staff and final completion of the project
is on track and scheduled for August 15, 2023; and
Now, therefore be it resolved, that the City Council of the City of Fridley hereby approves Change
Order No. 1 for East Moore Lake Biochar and Iron-Enhanced Sand Filter Project No. 22-467 in the
amount of -$2,544.68.
