Whereas, the City of Fridley is currently completing construction plans for the 53 Avenue Trail and

Walk Improvements Project No. ST2023-21, including the addition of a trail on the south side of 53
Avenue from Main Street to Central Avenue (Trunk Highway 65) and the addition of a sidewalk on
rd
the north side of 53 Avenue from University Avenue East Service Road to Monroe Street; and
rd
Whereas, these changes will require elimination of parking lanes on the south side of 53 Avenue
rdrd
from Main Street to 3 Street and on the north side of 53 Avenue between University Avenue East
ththth
Service Road to 4 Street and 6 Street to 7 Street, respectively; and
Whereas, ample off-street, across-street, and side-street parking is available adjacent to these
rd
segments of 53 Avenue; and
Whereas, this parking lane elimination has been presented to stakeholders at prior meetings, and
any concerns have been responded to;
Now, therefore be it resolved, that the City Council of the City of Fridley hereby approves:

1. The City Council designates the south side of 53 Avenue as No Parking along the south side of
rdrd
53 Avenue between Main Street to 3 Street; and
rd
2. The City Council designates the north side of 53 Avenue as No Parking along the north side of
rdththth
53 Avenue between University Avenue East Service Road to 4 Street and 6 Street to 7 Street;
and
3. The Public Works Department install signage in accordance with the parking prohibitions listed
above in conjunction with the construction of Project ST2023-21.
